Magnesium Chloride

Magnesium chloride, or magnesium, is a mineral that is important in maintaining the function of our nerves, cells, bones, muscles, and heart. Most people get enough magnesium in their normal diet, but sometimes supplementation is needed. Foods that are high in fiber generally contain high amounts of magnesium as well. Some of these foods include nuts, dark chocolate, avocados, fatty fish, seeds, and whole grains. Magnesium deficiency is most common in women, African Americans, and the elderly. Conditions, such as osteoporosis, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, and stroke, have been linked to low blood levels of magnesium. Magnesium chloride is also used to treat high stomach acid in the body, resulting in stomach upset, heartburn, and acid indigestion. Other situations, such as alcoholism, poor diet, poorly controlled diabetes, or those taking diuretics also cause magnesium deficiency, requiring treatment.

Recommended Frequency

As occasionally desired, 1-2x / month, or as often as 1x / week

For chronic conditions and adrenal fatigue: 1-2x per week for 4-8 weeks

The cocktail is usually given 1-2 times per week, and beneficial effects are usually felt by the 4th visit. Many patients with chronic conditions choose to continue the infusions every 1-4 weeks or when they feel their symptoms flaring or energy slipping.
